Uganda Cup: Lweza Cruise to Quarters in Style

The fourth edition of the annual Joan Cox Memorial Volleyball tournament is set for this weekend at Gayaza High School. Primary and Secondary schools will compete in the junior categories while corporates and clubs will fight in their respective groups.

VVC are the women’s champions and have scheduled to serve of the two-day tourney against high flying Sport-S club. The various categories have clubs and corporate teams playing alongside the under16 and the U-21girls.

Last year’s event attracted 32 school teams, four clubs and two corporate ones. DFCU are the two time champions in the corporate category while Trust High School and Kinaawa Junior team hold the U-21 and U-19 titles respectively.

The tournament is organized in the memory of late Joan Carliell Cox who served as Headmistress from 1950-1972, and made numerous contributions
towards the education of the girl child in Uganda and volleyball sport.

Lweza FC carried their fine form from the league to the Uganda cup competition spanking lower tier side Kamuli Park Fc by 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
