According to Deputy Police spokesperson, Polly Namaye, the deceased had been spotted playing cards and eating mairungi, (cannabis) with a group of other people, when the policeman attempted to arrest them.
“The policeman identified as PC Francis Byarugaba, No. 53373has been arrested and now breathing from behind the bars of greater Bushenyi Regional Police head quarter Cells,” Namaye told this website.
Namaye noted that following the incidence, the regional police commander and the DPC visited the scene immediately from where they recovered an AK47, with 28 rounds of ammunition as an exhibit.
She passed a strong warning to the entire police fraternity to cease from use of excessive force in performing their duties and misuse of firearms as this contravenes the law.

The suspected thugs were traveling in a Toyota premio, reg. no. UAP 488N were found with an SMG with 16 rounds of ammunition.
However, the other occupants of the Toyota premio escaped and are on the run.

Teachers under their Umbrella organisation, Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU) say that they started buying pay slips 3 years ago at shs 5000.
Led by their Municipality Chairperson, Denis Twine, the teachers said that the pay slips are provided free by the government and that all teachers are entitled to them.
Twine however reported that the Human Resource Officer was extortively selling them to teachers who were trying to get their salaries.
“The municipality has over 700 teachers but it is regrettable for all these teachers to have been defrauded over all these years. The Inspector General of Government should look into this. This is a big corruption scandal,” Twine told ChimpReports
The Human Resource Officer Adam Tusiime however denies the allegations, and says that pay slips are given to head teachers for verification and not teachers.
