Soana FC Coach Reveals Plans for Next Season

Mutono David is the asst coach of Soana fc

David Mutoni, the assistant Ccoach for Soana FC has hinted that their title drought is ending this coming season and the club is now ready to mount a strong challenge.

Speaking after the Club’s Gym Session early this morning at Ham Towers Gym Center at Makerere, Mutoni said: “Like in every season, our aim is always to win a major title. This is going to be our 5th season in the top flight. So I believe that we have matured enough not only to challenge but also to win a silverware, and the league is our top priority next season.”

On the club’s preseason preparations, Mutoni said the players have started with the Gym session to improve on their body strength and agility and it’s the best procedure to reshape their bodies after a long layoff before ball work.

He added that they are giving the players a break of 2 days to rest, then normal work will resume on Monday with field drills at the club’s training ground in Nakasero.

“We have prepared some build up games for the boys to test their fitness levels for starters. First in line is a Fort Portal tour, home of our boss Mr. Smart Obedi where we will play 2 games in a space of 4 days. The whole programme for the rest our preparatory matches will be revealed this coming week,” said Mutoni.

Club’s head coach Shafic Bisaso who was unveiled last month to fill the void left behind by Alex Isabirye, didn’t attend the gym session due to other attachments elsewhere.

On the previous departed coaches at the club, he revealed: “The departure of the coaches has not been due to the pressure from the board. It is their ambitions and targets, like Ssimbwa and Isabirye received better offers than what Soana was offering, and they had to leave.”

It should be noted that Soana has changed 5 coaches in a space of 2 years; Alex Isabirye, George Lutalo, Sam Ssimbwa and Charles Ayiekho have all come and gone.

Last season, the Kavumba based side finished 7th on the log, with 43 points from 30 games played, a point below Express fc.

In his conclusive remarks, Mutono assured the fans that the more is yet to come: “I want to assure our beloved fans out there that this is our season, we started the preparations earlier, the head coach has joined earlier so we have plenty of time to prepare, and I believe that the sky is our limit.”
