Kategere recently rebuked President Museveni, saying he deserves a life presidency.

The new development also sheds light on the group’s determination to promote Mbabazi’s brand in the media as the national elections draw closer.

Mbabazi says nursing presidential ambitions is not criminal.

After being convinced that Mbabazi intended to stand for presidency in 2016, Museveni tactfully decided to replace him with Dr Ruhakana Rugunda.

Sources say Mbabazi’s supporters are expected to storm Mandela National stadium to protest against move by the ruling party to amend the constitution to allow Museveni who is the party chairman to appoint a Secretary General.

Initially, it was the Delegates’ Conference that would select a Secretary General.

Mbabazi’s sympathisers have since warned that such a move would give Museveni unchecked powers in running the party’s activities.

The NRM Poor Youth said Kategere will from time to time be the official spokesperson of the operations and activities of the group and will operate on directives in accordance with the operational guidelines of the movement.

The group said it was formed to mobilise, sensitise and empower the young people of Uganda to live a meaningful life and to participate towards social economic transformation of Uganda.

“The NRM Poor Youth is a nationwide pressure group working with all stakeholders both in government private sector to boost productivity and participation of young people of Uganda towards sustainable development.”
