Police Warns against “Hooliganism” Ahead of Buganda Cup Finals

The Buganda Masaza Cup tournament will reach its climax tomorrow (Saturday) with a final and a placement match played at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

With the Buganda government confirming the presence of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi and his Prime Minister, Charles Peter Mayiga, even non-football fans are expected to come in large numbers.

Ahead of these crunch ties, security leaders in the Kampala Metropolitan area have urged fans to be peaceful inside and also on the way to the stadium.

Speaking at the Press Conference held Friday afternoon at Namboole, Emilian Kayima, the Kampala Metropolitan Spokesperson said:

“We have deployed security everywhere and on all the roads and highways, especially the Northern Bypass and you will be thoroughly checked. We will arrest the wrong-doers as we are not going to entertain all forms of hooliganism.”

“Don’t come with expensive items like laptops, make sure that you stay with your children and ensure that they are secure,” Kayima added.

Norman Musinga, the traffic police commander in charge of Kampala Metropolitan area, said: “I want to request the people to ensure road safety; do not overspeed, don’t overload and do not over celebrate like there is no day after tomorrow.”
