Court bailiffs and other stakeholders have been suspended from clearing warrants/orders until July 17.
A communiqué by SSP Charles Mutungi, Commandant Land Protection Unit dated July 3; states that a review is underway on how these directives are cleared by the Uganda Police Force.
“Therefore no individual or Agency should take it upon themselves to engage in acts leading to eviction or possession of land or property until new guidelines are communicated,” reads the statement in part.
Mutungi notes that the Uganda Police Land Force Protection Unit will organise meetings with other stakeholders for sensitisation such that there is “harmony in a way land matters are handled.”
The initiative is guided by the office of the Inspector General of Police.
A few guidelines regarding clearing of warrants and orders, Mutungi adds, will be issued for future operations.
