Major. General Gregory Mugisha Muntu, the incumbent Forum for Democratic Change Presidential candidate and Ntungamo Municipality Legislator, Gerald Karuhanga were last night stopped from appearing on a radio talk show by police.
Gen Muntu who is in the Kigezi region campaigning for the November FDC Presidential race, was slated to appear on Hope Radio in Kabale Municipality.
He was expected to feature together with MP Karuhanga on a two hour talk show running from 7pm to 9pm to discuss the coming party elections.
Earlier in the day he had met with FDC party delegates from Kigezi region at Kirigime Guest House and held a public rally at Kabale Main Stadium in the afternoon.
Shortly after completing the rally, Muntu and his entourage made their way to the radio station but were intercepted by armed police officers under the command of Kabale District Police Commander, Dickens Bindeeba.
DPC Bindeeba said they couldn’t allow Muntu on a talk show at the same time President Yoweri Museveni was appearing on another radio in the same Municipality to discuss land matters.
The Police boss said the Muntu talk show was planned to sabotage the president’s message and split his audience.
Gen Muntu on 17th November 2017 at Namboole Stadium will be facing MP Mubarak Munyagwa, Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the former Kumi County MP, Moses Byamugisha and Dan Matsiko the race for the presidency of the opposition FDC party.
