Over 5000 members of Rubanda Kiizi Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (Sacco) in Rubanda District are accusing the Parish Priest of Kakore Parish in Kabale Diocese Rev.Fr. Hebert Agaba and Paul Muhimbura, the General Manager of the SACCO of embezzling Shs 600 million from the group.

Rubanda Kiizi Saaco, which started in 1978, has other three branches in Ruhija Sub County, Ikumba Sub County and Muko Sub County.

Members accuse the General Manager Muhimbura and Fr. Agaba the Sacco Chairman, of stealing their savings.

These claim that their savings started declining in 2015 but they didn’t panic because of the trust they had Fr. Agaba, who told them it had been given out as loans.

Hajji Badru Sebyala, the Rubanda Resident District Commissioner says his office is aware of the matter and has already directed police to carry out investigations.

Fr. Agaba however, distanced himself from the accusations, though he admits to have signed for only 400Mllion shillings and gave it to Muhimbura to deposit it in Centenary Bank.

Efforts to get Muhimbura for a comment were futile as all his mobile phones were switched off.
