Ambrose Kirya returned to his native home in Jinja giving his side Sports Club Villa an emphatic but hard-fought 1-0 win from a solo early second half strike as the Jogoo edged out Sadolin Paints FC.

Both sides looked ordinary in the game, purchase unhealthy Jogoos opting for a rather physical approach and conceding sixteen fouls compared to the host’s four. Sadolin once again failed to bring the flair losing a lot of possession in the midfield in the absennce of team captain Peter Katumba.

In the second half, the visitors reasserted themselves pushing up for a goal. Former JMC captain Ambrose Kirya proved his worth in the 54th minute after capitalising on a defensive lapse from Harris Kajjubi and Nasser Nsubuga who had failed to clear off a floating ball inside the danger zone.

Kirya picked the loose ball dummied the two, then closed in on the near post before releasing a short-range scorcher that went past Mathias Muwanga for the winner.

Sadolin pushed harder to level matters, introducing Hood Mayanja, Allan Oryek and Edgar Luzige but instead the encounter turned frosty with tempers flying from both sides. Villa who were under interim coach Kirya maintained their defensive discipline before the center referee Alex Muhabi blew the final whistle.
