Sylvester Mbuli, the LC1 chairperson for Igogonya cell said they have petitioned different leaders including the RDC and LC5 chairperson demanding their intervention without success.
He said that leaders including Prime Minister Dr .Ruhakana Rugunda, former Kabarole District boss Michael Mugisa and former Burahya County Legislator Col.Steven Basaliza came and toured the land and promised to do something but didn’t.
Mbuli complained that they are unable to engage in agriculture production and that their children have failed to access social services like schools, hospitals and food.
In the meeting, after handing their petition to the RDC, the irate residents agreed to defect from the ruling NRM party if the president is not ready to come and address their concerns.
When contacted for a comment, Mr.Muhabwe Richard, warden in charge Semuliki National park said the allegations were false saying 2 years back a surveyor was brought and marked the boundaries with the affected communities.
