Magic Stormers 38-82 UCU lady Canons

Gladiators 42-66 A1 Challengers

KCCA Leopards 78-53 Nkumba Lady Marines

It was a splendid Sunday for UCU lady canons, A1 Challengers and KCCA leopards as the three teams emerged victorious in their respective games played at the YMCA outdoor court in Wandegeya.

KCCA leopards who were playing there last fixture of this season’s Ladies’ National Basketball league Round one, eased past Lady Mariners with a 78-53 victory in a less contested encounter.

Mariners’ only resistance was in the first quarter when they drew level on 8 points in a low scoring 10-minute first phase.

KCCA’s quadruple of Larisa Katungeko, Sylvia Nakazibwe, Halimah Nabusimba and the ever present top performer Martha Soigi all hit double figure points to help their team cruise swiftly.

Brenda Ekon of Nkumba Lady Mariners was unlucky to end on the losing side as the speed merchant’s 24 points and 10 rebounds were not enough to pick her team out of the mud.

Roger Sserunjogi’s Leopards have now concluded their first round unbeaten after winning all of their 9 league games.

Nkumba Lady Mariners’ coach Julius Lutwama will hope to revive the team’s performance when they face A1 challengers on 6th August to conclude their round one game.

In other games, Liz Nambuya, Terry Nailo, Gloria Okia, Mariam Birungi, Linda Wefila, Immaculate Chocho and Barbra Giu were the only 7 players used by Coach Jeff Wamboko as his Gladiators suffered their 7th loss of the season in the hands of A1 challengers.

Stella Nanfuka was on target with 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Challengers.

The day’s early kick-off saw Nicholas Natuhereza’s UCU Lady Canons defeat Magic Stormers by 82-32.
