As the National Boxing Team, the Bombers, gear up for the Upcoming World Championships in Hamburg, Germany, coach, Tony Ssekabira has revealed the good news from his Camp.
Speaking with ChimpReports, Ssekabira said: “My players are in good shape and I must say that we are ready to take on the world.”
“We have been working on minimizing some individual errors and I remain certain that we will offer the best.”
Ssekabira who said that one of his major aims is to produce the best Boxers in Africa was recently in South Africa for an AIBA Star 2 course and he remains the only AIBA Certified Catman in East and Central Africa.
He added that he is proud of what his boys achieved recently in Congo and he is ready to build on that.
“We went in Congo Brazaville as underdogs but we managed to finish 3rd ahead of over 30 participating nations and I am hoping that we are to use that as a motivation,” he said.
In Congo Brazzaville, Uganda managed to scoop 3 medals after entering the competition with 9 boxers.
Muzamir ‘KingKong’ Kakande took gold, David ‘The Dragon’ Ayiti and Geoffrey Kakeeto settled for Bronze each and they are the ones to represent Uganda in the World Boxing Championships.
The city of Hamburg, Germany, will host the 2017 edition of the AIBA World Boxing Championships. Starting on August 25th where the best 280 boxers in World will compete.
