Mike Azira, Okwi Summoned in 30-Man Squad for Burkina Faso Duel

Lweza FC carried their fine form from the league to the Uganda cup competition spanking lower tier side Kamuli Park Fc by 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at the  Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

Coach Mutyaba’s side started the rout just after seven seconds, recipe Rajab Kakooza netting from the spot before Hassan Kikoyo doubled the lead eleven minutes later.

Mustafa Kiraga finished the business later in the second period with a brace in the 70 and 90th minute.

Ibrahim Kazinda consolled the visitors with a strike deep in the last added minutes. The premier league side joins Hope Doves, Bright Stars and Soana who have qualified for the quarter finals.

Pending matches
The cup action will continue on Thursday 17 when Vipers sc take a trip to Nyakasinga to play Kasese new Villa in a pending match of round of 32. The winner will face either Airtel Kitara or Express FC.

Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojovic has released a provisional list of 30 players for the upcoming 2017 Afcon qualifier double header against Burkina Faso.

Local football fans will be relieved after the Serbian coach drafted USA based talented midfielder Mike Azira into the squad.

The 30 man squad comprises twelve home and 18 foreign based players consisting of 4 goal keepers, ambulance 10 defenders, viagra 10 midfielders and six strikers .

The coach has also summoned Danish based striker Emmanuel Okwi together with On-form Simba SC striker Hamis ‘Diego’ Kizza and SC Villa’s Mike Sserumaga. They will fight for a starting positions with big league top scorer Edrisa Lubega as well as Standard Liege newbie Farouk Miya.

Onyango will lead the goalkeeping department that also has El Merreikh first choice keeper Jamal Salim, Robert Odongkara (St George, Ethiopia) and Vipers SC’s James Alitho.

The Cranes are scheduled to kick off training this Friday 18th March 2016.

They play Burkina Faso on Saturday 26th in Ougadougou before the return leg to be hosted at Namboole three days later.
