A group of crime preventers from Mbarara district has angrily refuted media reports that they were stranded in Kampala without transport back from the just concluded National Resistance Movement [NRM] Delegates Conference at the Mandela National Stadium.
The group chairman Arinaitwe Shwento also dismissed claims that Shs 500, doctor http://crazytour.am/wp-content/themes/activello-master/inc/widgets/divide.php 000 was promised to them.
The crime preventers made the retaliation yesterday at Mbarara police station while being addressed by the District Police Commander Jaffar Magyezi upon return from Kampala.
They dismissed as false, a television news story that over 400 of them were camped at the party head offices in Kampala, demanding facilitation for their transport.
Mr Arinaitwe said it was opposition youths wearing NRM shirts that infiltrated their group and acted stranded to taint the image of the ruling party.
“This was a planned move to cause embarrassment to the NRM and the president, but it was unaccomplished,” Shwento said.
“First of all. we liaised with schools like Ntare and Mbarara High to get buses to Kampala. There was no way we would require another means of transport back home.”
Boaz Bafaki another crime preventer echoed Arinaitwe’s assertion, noting this was all the opposition’s ploy to weaken the ruling party.
Through their chairman, the crime preventers made an apology to the IGP Gen Kale Kayihura and president Museveni about the media reports.
