After days of speculation about the fate of Mbarara City Football Club, Head coach Richard Makumbi has agreed to extend his stay at the club.
Makumbi has finally ended speculation over his future, signing a new contract committing him to the Newly Uganda Premier League Promoted team until 2018.
The experienced coach who guided the team to promotion from the Big League was linked to a move away from the Ankole Lions but he has opted to stay.
Makumbi is best known for promoting several clubs to the top tier league in Uganda including Soana, BUL FC, Fire Master, SCOUL, Fire Masters, Bunamwaya, and Victors FC among others.
The tactician believes with his future settled, he is ready to work hard to make sure the club doesn’t get relegated.
“I am very happy to have signed a new contract,” said Makumbi.
“We worked extremely hard to have the team’s promotion to azam Uganda super league, which I am very proud of. Now we must work even harder to stay at top flight league,” Makumbi said as quoted by the club PRO, Mike Ddungu.
Mbarara City Fc has so far played three friendly games, a 1-0 against Express FC, a 2 all draw against Ntoda FC and a draw of one goal with Vipers.
The team has also signed several players namely Ali Kimera, Swed Satugombo, Zaidi Byekwaso, Francis Mustafa, Arishe Asuman Kihogo, Pistis Barenge and Fred Kalanzi.
