The Diocese of Kigezi on Sunday sent into retirement a dozen priests, and commissioned 14 others as deacons into service.
The function held at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Rugarama was presided over by Kigezi Bishop George Bagamuhunda.
The priests that were retired include former deputy principal of Bishop Bahram university college Rev. Canon. Jovan Turyamureeba, Rev. Damson Akandwanirira, Rev. Can. Jackson Betubiza, Rev. Gaster Basheija, former Bishop Bahram University academic registrar Rev. Solomon Mugyenzi , Rev. Edward Tibyeitu , Rev. David Turomwe, Rev. Fred Kwarikunda, Rev. Jotham Sunday, Rev. Emmanuel Tumuhimbise, Rev. Stephen Muvaneza and Rev. Amos Fred Bindeeba.
Bagamuhunda praised the retiring priests for a committed service that saw the diocese achieve a lot during their time of service.
“I am glad to have worked with these men; they are a good example to our Christians and good mentors in the Christian life. During their time of service, they helped our diocese to achieve a lot of development and we are so indebted to them,” said Bagamuhunda.
At the same function 14 men that recently finished their three year divinity training were commissioned to start church ministry.
Bishop Bagamuhunda asked the new deacons to execute God’s work with diligence and commitment.
