Uganda’s Kickboxer Alex Ndyareba Matsiko has been flagged off by the National Council of Sports Friday morning to China.
Matsiko will have a 3-round fight in the weight of 70 kilograms in China on September 20.
Speaking at the send-off ceremony, Assistant General Secretary of National Council of Sports, David Katende said: “I thank Uganda Kickboxing federation for the preparations you have put in this. I also thank MTN; we appreciate your effort in developing Sports in Uganda.”
He added: “I am giving Matsiko this National Flag as a symbol to show him that he is our Ambassador out there. Go and represent us, and I wish you all the best.”
Manager of Matsiko, Amon Mugume had some encouraging words: “Train hard because the best thing we need from you is only Victory.”
Matsiko who promised to come back with Victory will first head to Kualar Lumpur, Malaysia for a 2 weeks training before his fight in China.
MTN facilitated Matsiko with a package of 10 million Uganda Shillings.
