The Inspector General of Police Gen.Kale Kayihura has rushed to Kapchorwa following the death of a police officer, Chimpreports has learnt.
On Tuesday evening, PC Charles Olany 33, was attacked and killed by unknown assailants who went away with his SMG rifle.
“They cut his neck with a panga and he died on the spot,” a source told this website.
Olanya who had been deployed at a trade show at Boma grounds in Kapchorwa Municipality was reportedly attacked by assailants who targeted him as he eased himself.
The officer from Kitgum district had reportedly asked his colleagues with whom he was on duty to keep brief watch of his beat as he went to ease himself.
“A few minutes he was found dead with his ammunitions (bullets) spread all over the place indicating he was involved in a scuffle with the assailants.”
Police have started investigations into the incident in a bid to arrest the assailants and recover the rifle.
