Kainerugaba Lauds USPA for Exhibiting Professionalism

The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations Maj. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has applauded sports journalists for helping in promoting sports in Uganda and also exhibiting great professionalism.

Kainerugaba made the remarks on Friday at Imperial Royale Hotel, where sports scribes under their umbrella body, Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) crowned excelling athletes for 2016.

“What a wonderful event this is. Thank you so much to the organisers, athletes and USPA for organising this very colourful event,” he stated.

“Am humbled to be the chief guest on this wonderful occasion when the country celebrates our very best sports. Thank Uganda Sports Press Association for organizing this function and for inviting me,’’ Muhoozi added.

He also commended USPA for identifying excelling performers in sports and awarding them. This encourages them to work harder, he said.

“The professionalism you have showed in relaying information about our sportsmen and women motivates them a lot,” the general expressed appreciation.

Kainerugaba also  congratulated USPA for starting a SACCO, adding that government encourages Ugandans to form SACCOs.

He delivered Shs30m to the SACCO that was sent by President Yoweri Museveni.

Uganda Cranes captain Dennis Onyango stood high on the night emerging the 2016 USPA Sports Personality beating Phillip Wokorach (Rugby) and David Emong(Athlete) to the coveted prize.

Over 40 athletes from different sports disciplines were also crowned at the awards gala.
