Kabarole Council Sanctions MPs without Accountability Reports

Detectives are not leaving any stone unturned in the extensive probe of circumstances under which city businessman Eria Sebunya Bugembe alias Kasiwuukira was murdered this month.

Speaking at the deceased’s memorial service in Muyenga, Godfrey Kirumira, the chairperson of Bagaga Kwagalana, said Police should speed up investigations and come up with a clear report on the cause of Kasiwukira’s death, saying, “It was not accident.”

“Police have been putting up rewards for people who help to identify criminals but are yet to do so on this case. Why?  As members of Kwagalana group we shall not sit back but announce a big reward for any person who leads to the arrest of people involved in this murder.”

The group has since raised Shs15M as a bounty for any person who provides information leading the arrest of Kasiwukira’s murderers.

However, Enanga explains that Police will soon get to the bottom of the matter.

“This is a puzzle and we are putting the pieces together and expanding our area of investigation until we get to identification of the culprits,” he told this website in an interview on Friday.

“Police would like to once again assure the family, close and business associates, as well as residents of a very thorough investigation that will bring justice to the late Eriya Bugembe Ssebunya’s death.”

Kabarole District Council has passed a resolution barring members of parliament without accountability reports from addressing council sittings.

The motion was moved by Busoro Sub County Councilor Hon. Richard Nyakaana and seconded by  Karambi Sub County councilor, seek http://curaacufeni.com/wp-admin/includes/options.php Hon. Joseph Mashuhuko at the District Headquarters Kitumba on Friday.

Nyakaana said that council would only entertain speeches from MPs who have accountability reports on what they have lobbied for the district.

Nyakaana gave the example of the Burahya County MP Hon. Steven Kagwera who he said comes to council without any accountability reports on what he has lobbied and done for the people.

The decision to ban MPs came after the woman MP Hon.Victoria Businge Rusoke delivered a comprehensive report on some of her achievements and accountability of what she had already done and lobbied for the district.

Hon. Rusoke highlighted on some of the things she had lobbied including 60 mattresses for health centers, case maize seeds, ask coffee seedlings, coffee and rice hullers, a tractor, 10 scholarships, shs 100m for SACCOs, trainings for female councilors among others.

About the shs 30m presidential pledge, the MP noted that it had been distributed to six SACCOs with each receiving shs 5m.
