Kabale intern heath workers, page http://cogocapital.com/lp/wp-includes/load.php who had staged a peaceful demonstration at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, resumed work yesterday after they were paid their full allowances.

Last week, a total of 35 intern health workers laid down their tools citing failure by Government to pay their allowances which left many patients stranded at the hospital.

The health workers included medical doctors, dental surgeons, pharmacists and nurses.

Sources from the hospital indicate that the health workers had for long been complaining of not receiving their allowances for the last three month and that they were finding it hard to meet basic needs.

They said that they were entitled to a shs 600,000 shillings pay and an additional shs 220,000 upkeep per Month.

Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Director, Dr. Placid Mihayo told this website yesterday that the hospital administration had been processing their payments since last week and that they had all been paid.

When our reporter visited at the hospital, many of the interns were found at their stations in the hospital.
