Judiciary Clears the Air on Its Officers Engaged in Accident

Judiciary Public Relations officer, Vincent Mugabo has revealed that Fort Portal High Court Resident Judge, Hon Anthony Onyuko Ojok and two other people who were engaged in a motor accident Monday morning have been discharged from hospital.

Mugabo says that the judge, his bodyguard and a driver where engaged in an accident this morning at 6am near Mubende district as the judge was returning to his duty station.

“The judge was traveling in his official vehicle to, among other things, attend a Justice, Law and Order Sector Open Day at Booma Grounds in Fort Portal presided over by the Chief Justice, Bart M. Katureebe,” says Mugabo in a statement.

Mugabo states that the judge’s driver reportedly lost control after a tyre burst, causing the vehicle to roll several times.

The judge, together with his driver and police bodyguard, sustained minor injuries.

“Joint emergency services coordinated by both the Judiciary and the Uganda Police evacuated the judge and crew from the accident scene to True Vine Hospital, Mubende, for first aid. They were later transferred to Mulago Hospital in Kampala, where they were medically examined and declared stable and out of danger,” reads the statement.

The trio has been discharged from hospital and will be monitored from their homes.
