Police in Isingiro have arrested two people suspected to have murdered a 66 year old man.

The deceased John Patrick Ruhimbazi, police says was murdered by his wife Juliet Kyohirwe 60, and his son only identified as Bernard, aged 22 years all residents of Kibona trading center, Birere sub county in Isingiro district.

Weeks ago, Kyohairwe reported to police that her husband was missing and a search was mounted.

She was however arrested on Wednesday this week after residents identified a foul smell emerging from her house which turned out to be the decomposing body of her husband.

The body was found in a sack in her pit latrine, which had to be demolished to retrieve it. She immediately surrendered and was taken to police.

The beheaded body was removed and taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital for postmortem.

When probed by police, the widow said her husband had threatened to kill and that she hit him on the head with a hoe while he was asleep.

She said she dumped the body in the pit latrine and buried the chopped head in the banana plantation.

“I decided to take his life before he took mine,” she said.

The Rwizi regional police spokesperson Samson Kasasira confirmed the incident yesterday advising women to either divorce their partners when they can no longer be with them, or seek counseling.

He added that the son was arrested because he connived with the mother in the murder since they were staying.
