The body of former UPC party chairman, Maj. Edward Rurangaranga has left Mbarara Hospital where it had been taken for postmortem.

The results showed that the fallen politician succumbed to hypertension.

The suave leader who served as UPC Minister of State for Local Government (1981-1985), according to accounts by his widow, Winfred collapsed and died while taking tea at around 7:00pm.

Winfred also narrated that her departed husband had earlier in the day given a speech at his friend’s burial ceremony in Ntungamo District.

Born in 1932, Rurangaranga died at the age of 85, leaving a widow and 8 children – three boys and five girls.

He will be laid to rest in Kitanjojo village, Kitagata in Sheema district.
