An elderly German national living in Buikwe district was Tuesday afternoon shot dead by unknown assailants who also stole his property.
The deceased was identified by police as Remus Manifred, aged 70 and a businessman in the central eastern district
Police spokesperson AIGP Asan Kasingye said the Manifred was attacked by gunmen today at 2pm, at his home Bwoweri in Njeru Town Council.
He says the attackers, armed with a pistol, gained access to the house and demanded money from him, which he didn’t have.
The assailants the shot him, of his phones and escaped to an unknown direction,” Kasingye revealed in a statement.
“He was rushed to Jinja Main Hospital for treatment where he unfortunately died.”
The police mouthpiece says officers rushed to the house and investigations are underway.
