East Africa SS Games: Track and Field Action Kicks off Tomorrow

With a lot of action in ball games dominating the opening 5 days of the East Africa Secondary School games, the battle on the track and field gets underway on Thursday.

Athletics will dominate proceedings at Pece stadium in the heart of Gulu town with participants coming from all the seven countries of the East African region.

Action will start with a men’s race in 10,000m at 10am with stiff competition expected to be between team Kenya and team Uganda.

This will be followed with the finals in long jump (women) and high jump(men) before a highly anticipated final in the 100m.

The other category where Uganda has a lot of hope is the women’s Javelin throw final.

Gombe SS’ Joyce Josephine Lalam will be the centre of attraction in this class after winning a gold medal in the youth Commonwealth games in July in Nassau, Bahamas.

The 16 year old student will be seeking to retain the medal she won last year in Eldoret, Kenya.
