Mukono High School and Gadaffi Integrated Academy brightened their hopes of reaching the quarterfinals of the girls’ football at the ongoing East Africa Secondary School games in Gulu.
Playing their second group game, Mukono secured their second victory in as many games to go top of group C.
In the game played at SOS, Mukono ran riot past South Sudan’s Kapoeta winning 4-0.
A brace from combative midfielder Maureen Afoyo and a goal apiece from Shamilah Nalujja Fauziah Najjemba helped the Ugandan side.
This was their second win after a 1-0 win over E.S Mutunda in their opening game on Saturday.
In the other game, Gaddafi put up a resuscitated performance to win 2-1 against Rwanda’s Kobusunzu.
Aisha Namukisa scored the tournament’s fastest goal in just four seconds.
This gave Gaddafi the lead before Zaina Namuleme converted a penalty to double the lead.
Kobusunzu scored late it into the game but the Ugandan side held on to earn maximum points.
This meant they brightened their chances after losing 1-0 to Uganda Martyrs High School Rubaga in their opening game.
Uganda Martyrs however lost 3-1 to Wiyeta in their second game.
In men’s football, Jinja SS drew goalless against Nakaseke International while St. Mary’s Kitende outwitted Rio de Gitega 6-0
