The saying a bad beginning makes a good end is a true depiction of Kawempe Muslim about their performance at the Brookside East Africa Secondary School games.
After two successive draws in their opening games, Kawempe eventually turned their fortunes around and have eventually reached this year’s final in girl’s football.
Kawempe earned sweet revenge over Mukono High School who won the national championship this year.
The game which ended in a goalless draw and marred with a lot of controversies had to be determined on spot kicks to identify the finalist.
Kawempe missing the trio of Hasifa Nassuna,Yudaya Nakayenze and Sharon Naddunga over their ineligibility to play in this tournament won the penalty contest 6-5.
Initially Uganda Martyrs High School Rubaga who had eliminated Mukono High School in the quarterfinals had to play Kawempe but after can appeal, Rubaga was disqualified for using non students in their team.
Kawempe, the first Ugandan side to reach the finals in five years will now take on Kenya’s Wiyeta who outwitted Alliance 4-0.
