East Africa Secondary school games
Kawempe Muslim 0-0 Alliance
Uganda Martyrs 1-0 Gadhafi Integrated
Mukono High 1-0 ES Mutunda
Uganda’s representatives in women’s football started the East Africa Secondary school games on a brighter note registering wins.
National Champions, Mukono High school pulled off a hard-fought 1-0 victory against ES Mutunda to begin the campaign on a perfect note.
In a closely contested game at Gulu High school playground, Mukono needed a late goal from Shamilah Nalujja to pick maximum points and top of the group C.
Nalujja calmly controlled a defence splitting pass from Maureen Afoyo before powering in a thunderous effort past the Mutunda goalie.
Equally, Uganda Martyrs High School too earned victory in an all-Ugandan affair against Gadhafi Integrated School.
Rashida Nankya scored the lone goal of the game after a great interplay with Anita Namata.
However, it was a disappointing start for Kawempe Muslim who played out a goalless draw against Alliance High from Tanzania in the opening game of the day at St. Joseph’s College Layibi.
The next games for the Ugandan schools in women’s football will be played on Monday.
