There was drama at Prime Guest House Nyakasharu trading center, this see http://congresopuebla.gob.mx/buscadores/puntosacuerdos/include/php/idgeneradaportipo.php Rubirizi district when a group of National Resistance Movement (NRM) youth was locked outside a meeting that was organized by The Minister for presidency, more about http://cleanenergybiofuels.com/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-ms-sites-list-table.php Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, forcing them to block him as he moved out.
The Rubirizi district youth chairperson, Mr. Anthony Bigirwa said he received the invitation letter from the office of the Resident District Commissioner inviting him for a meeting of District leaders with Tumwebaze which he came to attend just like any other leader but only to be pushed out by police.
“I entered and signed on the attendance sheet and went back outside to buy airtime but on coming back, the district NRM Chairperson and police pushed me outside saying that I was not invited for the meeting,” said Bigirwa
The Rubirizi RDC Mr Kule Muranga who was responsible for calling the invited members by phone said that the meeting targeted NRM leaders and his work was just to ring the invited members of NRM for the meeting.
“Only invited members were expected to attend the meeting. We did not invite press men and non NRM members. I wonder where he was going if he was not invited,” said Muranga.
Sunday Bamunoba, the NRM publicist for Rutoto sub-county who was also locked outside the meeting said that NRM in Rubirizi is losing support because of some leaders who are pushing for their own selfish interests.
“Why are these people stopping us from attending party meetings? Do they want us to go away and they start saying that we have joined Mbabazi? They are chasing us and we shall find our way out. These are the real people destroying the party,” said Magambo.
The latest development comes ahead of the much-anticipated NRM delegates conference in Kampala on December 15.
Supporters of former Prime Minister and presidential hopeful Amama Mbabazi have previously complained of being locked out of meetings arranged by Tumwebaze.
Magambo further said that the meeting was not effective because it did not involve the people on the ground adding that they are going to petition the president to “come to Rubirizi and see what is killing NRM in the district.”
After the meeting, some members who preferred anonymity said that they were not satisfied with the contents of the meeting alleging it had its tight agenda but not addressing NRM issues in the district.
Annah Atuhaire, a youth councillor said during the meeting important issues were deleted from the agenda.
“We expected the minister to look at the pace of NRM in the district but he kept on shutting us down pursuing his interest and no solution to our problems was reached. At least we wanted him to know that we also need RDCs and Permanent secretaries from our district but he couldn’t see all these. For sure we didn’t benefit from the meeting since the minister kept shutting us up,” added Atuhaire.
The aggrieved youth waited for the minister up to when the meeting ended at 4pm.
They stood at the gate with placards reading “Minister we want to talk to you” which forced Tumwebaze to briefly address them.
When asked as to why the youth were not allowed in the meeting, Tumwebaze said that another arrangement will be made to accommodate the youth and other people who missed out.
“We can have another meeting with your group and engage you in issues of development. For the meeting, don’t mind we shall consider you. Whether you support Mzee or Mbabazi, you are right but those are your views,” said Tumwebaze.
He advised the youth to form groups and engage in meaningful activities which he will give support.
“You shouldn’t be driven. Form your group, invite me as Tumwebaze, I will support you and when we are in development, leave politics aside because everyone has his interests during politics time. If you have been barred from attending the meeting, chair yours.”
