Tigers win by one run

Kutchi Tigers emerged victorious by one run against Challengers Cricket Club at the Lugogo cricket oval as the second round of the UCA league kicked off.

Kutchi who had won the toss and elected to bat first, set up a double century score of 231 runs in 49.3 overs with Shantilal and Phindoriya hitting 57 and 53 runs respectively.

In the second innings of the game, Challengers who needed 232 runs to seal the victory in 50 overs, started poorly when they lost Captain Ivan Thawithemurira for a duck as he was caught behind by Aezaz.

It is Arthur Kyobe who came in at position number 7 and tried to revive their chase when he hit 76 runs off 89 balls but he was too eliminated before the required target was obtained.

Tail enders in David Wabwire and Richard Odong failed to get their work done as Kutchi held on to win the thriller in the last over of the game as they limited Challengers to 230 runs.

Shantilal and Dhansukh picked two wickets on the day for Kutchi Tigers.

In the other league game played at Kyambogo Oval, Aziz Damani posted 246 runs for the fall of 8 wickets in 50 overs before eliminating Nile all out after they had only managed 58 runs in 24.3 overs to eventually win by 188 runs.
