A section of National Resistance Movement leaders and supporters in Kitgum district have accused the state minister for  International Relations, buy Henry Okello Oryem and other government officials for frustrating the official ruling party`s candidate for Local Council 5 chairman.

Okello-Oryem, buy the Operation Wealth Creation commander, Brig. Fearless Obwoya, the Resident District Commissioner, Komakech William and DISO are said to be against Labeja George William, who massively won in the recent chaotic NRM primary elections.

In the primaries early this month, Mr. Labeja who is commonly known as “Hakuna Kulala” the Swahili word for no sleep, won the race for the district boss with 12,850 votes flooring his closest opponent Mr. Luke Nyeko who got 12,600 votes.

Labeja was reportedly frustrated from being nominated for the national elections by the Electoral Commission’s district office.

One of the leaders said, Mr. Labeja had planned to travel direct to Kampala to do his nominations from the EC headquarters and had already communicated.

“Our candidate has been stopped by Minister Okello-Oryem, Brig Oboya, RD and DISO for no reasons. It is difficult for us here (Kitgum) since our choice is being fought by our leaders who should instead be protecting him,” an NRM local leader who asked not to be named said.

The government officials are said to be supporting the loser Mr. Nyeko who has already been successfully nominated on independent ticket.

We were told on his nomination day, Nyeko was escorted by a government official whose name has been withheld.

During his speech in Kitgum municipality, President Yoweri Museveni emphasized on unity saying NRM is based on three important principles; unity, strength and peace.

When contacted by ChimpReports, Minister Okello-Oryem simply rubbished the accusations.

“That is rubbish and total rubbish. Those saying that should just go and hang and nowhere else but hell.” Okello-Oryem said on phone.

When contacted on Monday, the Electoral Commission`s deputy publicist, Mr. Paul Bukenya said it is strange for someone intending to contest in the local government elections to be nominated from but rather from the home district.

Mr. Bukenya then referred us to the Kitgum district EC registrar, Ms. Adul Joan. By the time of publication, the registrar hadn’t returned our calls.
The Prime Minister (Katikiro) of Buganda, order Charles Peter Mayiga has called upon school proprietors to put much emphasis on teaching of practical and vocational skills, cheap so as to solve the unemployment problem in the country.

The Katikiro was officiating at the three-year anniversary ceremony of Buddo  Parents academy over this weekend.

He appreciated the school management committee for grooming hardworking and disciplined students.

“I would like to call upon all school heads to ensure that children are taught practical skills on top of the theory lessons. I have been impressed by the skills which these young children have exhibited in various disciplines today, shop ” Mayiga remarked

Mayiga lauded Michael Kawooya Mwebe, the Director of the school and his staff for working tirelessly in providing better education to the young generation.

The Director said he started the school after realizing that many educated Ugandans were unemployed because they lacked practical skills.

Mukoota Paul, the headmaster appreciated the parents support and promised more innovations aimed at improving the children’s learning environment.

At this years anniversary pupils participated in Music and Drama activities well as showcased their hand made products.
