The Captain for the National boxing team that is set to leave for the World Boxing Championship in Hamburg, Germany has promised to deliver.
Captain Muzamir ‘KingKong’ Kakande will lead his boxing team-mates, David ‘The Dragon’ Ayiti (Super heavy) and Geoffrey Kakeeto (Bantam Weight) as the 3 representatives that are to raise the Ugandan flag high in the competitions.
The trio reached the fate following their triumphs in the recently concluded African Boxing Championship in Congo Brazzaville that saw Kakande beat Clair Merven of Mauritius to claim gold as Ayite and Kakeeto lost their respective semis to settle for Bronze.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming tournament in Germany, Kakande said: “The preparations were not that good enough, but in boxing, you must be committed.”
“I may not promise you gold, but I think we are going to deliver our best; fight to the last born and I’m sure that we will make it,” he added.
Kakande also added that the nation feared most is Ukraine, but not USA as everyone should have expected.
The Contingent is set to depart on Monday, August 21 from Entebbe following intensive 5-week training in camp.
