Bika Tourney: Nvubu Given a Walk-Over

Nvubu team training at Wankulukuku after they were awarded a walk over

The Bika football tournament continues to lag behind as teams go on to dishonor their allocated fixtures.

One of the responsibilities the organizing committee had before this year’s tournament was to steer on the incredible legacy of the late Ssebaana Kizito who was the Chairman of Bika Football association.

Ssebaana had started putting this tournament at a certain level.

The gap however continues to negatively widen, and the dream of taking this tournament to reach the heights of the sister tournament, Masaza cup seems like a goose chase.

The anticipated match between Nvubu and Nkejje did not take place on Wednesday as the latter did not show up at the Match Venue in Wankulukuku which led the referees to award the whole 3 points to Nvubu, hence marching smartly to the next round.

Paul Sserubiri, the team Manager for Nvubu, had told ChimpReports: “It is sad that we didn’t have to play today because I wanted my players to have some actual game situations. But of course I must admit that I am fairly happy because we are through to the next round.”

Sseubiri went on to blame the organizing committee for the poor job done in publicizing the games.

“There has been low publicity in this tournament and this is now the end result. It’s not only that, even fans don’t show up in big numbers,” he said.

“We are ready to face whoever comes, and our major priority is to win this year’s tournament.”

Nvubu will now face off with the winner between Ndiga and Ngoge who will play this Friday.
