Mamba Gabunga 2-2 Lugave
Lugave managed to show character as they overcame a 2 goal deficit at halftime to pick a vital point in the quarter finals of the Bika football tournament played at Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
John Kisakye and Bukya Ssebuguzi gave Mmamba Gabunga a 2-0 lead at the break before Julius Mutyaba and Brian Nkuubi levelled the game.
Speaking after the match, Lugave Coach, George Ssemwogerere said: “The first half was a tricky one, I went two goals down because of two errors from my defense but I had to change the playing strategy accordingly.”
“I had to defend and attack at the same time,” he added.
This was the first leg of the last quarter final match at Wankulukuku, with both teams to face off in the second leg next week.
Winner between these two sides on aggregate will play either Butiko or Nte, with the later holding a slim 1-0 first leg victory.
The Crucial second half
The introduction of Karim Nduggwa in the second half was the major turning point as the veteran player controlled the middle of the park to give Lugave an upper hand.
With just 10 minutes past the restart, Stephen Luswata missed from close range as the player’s effort went over the bar with the goalkeeper already beaten.
Julius Mutyaba’s free kick went direct into the net to pull one back for Lugave, but more was yet to come.
Two minutes later, Brian Nkuubi levelled matters from the spot following Nicholas Ssebwato’s clumsy challenge on Miukiibi ndugwa.
Lugave could have got themselves into the lead but Nduggwa’s powerful header from Moses Mukiibi’s cross went over the bar.
