Gasana put much emphasis on community policing which, he explained, is a core tool in building partnership between Police and citizens in preventing crimes as a need to ensure security for all.

“We have sensitized citizens on the need to share information with security organs. Citizens have continually availed this information that has largely contributed to drastically reducing crimes as well as apprehending criminals,” said Gasana.

He went on to say that feedback from citizens shows how much they have recognized their role in contributing to enhancement of public security and their feeling about accountability for their commitment in fully cooperate with security organs.

Responding to some of the questions specifically on driving license, the IGP said that those who would like to get driving license and categories should get ready to undergo theoretical and practical driving tests before going back home.

He further urged them to embark on working hard to speed up development and socio-economical stability that Rwanda was ever since deprived in the past, due to bad politics and governance.

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago and the only chance is today,” the IGP told them, emphasizing it’s high time the youth acted immediately towards driving positive change in the destiny of our country.

He concluded his lecture by thanking them all for they have showed full commitment in attending and actively participating in this two week Civic Education training sessions.
