Ugandans quickly took to Twitter and Facebook and credited the superstar singer as the shinning ‘pop diva’, whose compelling talent was lost to a treatable stomach ulcer (also called a peptic ulcer) – which is a small erosion (hole) in the gastrointestinal tract.

The beautiful young singer was lauded by other vocalists for her impeccable technique and polish, qualities that elevated her above almost every other star of her generation.

Few singers of her young age have been gifted with a voice as glorious as Sera’s and even fewer have treated their talent with the frustrating indifference she did toward the end of her life.

Many believed that had she taken the ulcer seriously, perhaps she would have lived for more years and rocked the nation with quite a number of contagious songs.

Her close friends said she had put everything into efforts to shine and hold the candle of hope for the young and prospective musicians.

Sera’s tragic and untimely death in her early twenties will send her thrilling album back into the charts, and confirm her music as the best of her time.

Gorgeous Sera’s talent was quickly spotted by Swangz Avenue who trained and perfected her abilities. Her voice also lent itself to R&B, pop and ballads, and she was adept at each style.

It was “Contagious” that provided her biggest hit. Her melodramatic rendition, featuring Kid Fox was one of her most powerful vocals, making it one of the biggest collabos her generation.

Sera was also the first young star to break through the age bar at the all-important television and city radio stations, which hitherto had played talented artistes almost exclusively.

NTV and Capital Fm’s heavy rotation of her sweet videos made her a familiar face to most East Africans and her mix of glamour, talent and approachability made her an inspirational figure for millions of teenage girls in the region.

Chimpreports.com entertainment desk described her as “Uganda’s sweetheart” whose life was tragically cut short.

“Her voice attracted attention and her fresh-faced prettiness made her a success in front of the camera. She was already working on a collabo with Bebe Cool and the entire Gagamel crew. The sky was her limit,” said a member of Gagamel.

Sera’s style was fully formed; the richness of her tone was balanced by a poise and precision that was rare in a teenager. Inevitably, she was offered record deals.

Most artistes agree that age did not deter Sera from making more songs and was surely headed for stardom.

Bebe Cool posted on his Facebook wall: “Uganda as a nation and the music industry together with Swangzs Avenue and Gagamel have lost our dearest Sera of contagious fame. She passed away this evening as she travelled to Masaka for burial.”

“Sad news….. SERA, a young artist who was full of promise and a great music career ahead of her has died… U may know her from the song “Contagious”. God, why?” wondered musician Cleopatra.

“She was only beginning to make her dream come true… Am really saddened by this. Heartfelt condolences to her dear family and friends. RIP dear Angel, I was just getting to know you but the little I saw, you were a cordial person with a good heart,” she posted on Facebook.

Radio Presenter Rudeboykella Mckenzie said: “It’s a sad moment for many especially many friends that she had made through this entertainment world. My deepest condolences to Swangz Ave and her family.

From the first time i played Sera’s debut song Sunrise, i have always thought she would be the best one day…but God clearly had different plans for this beautiful soul.”

Chimpreports.com news desk will keep you updated on developments regarding Sera’s burial as they unfold.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
