The theme of the day is “Managing Uganda’s Oil Discovery,” a touchy subject that nearly split the ruling NRM party.

Collier is expected to discuss how Uganda can make good use of oil to jumpstart the country’s economy.

Several eminent economists are expected to discuss the hot topic.

They inlude Finance Minister Maria Kiwanuka and Bank of Uganda governor Mutebile.

Reports indicate hundreds are pouring in at Munyonyo for the lecture.

Economists say once poorly managed, oil could be a curse and plunge the country into a bloody civil war as it happened in Nigeria.

President Yoweri Mseveni has in the past said oil revenue will be used for infrastructural development.
