more about "sans-serif"; font-size: small; mso-bidi-font-family: ‘Times New Roman’;”>The development undermined NTC’s military weakness in clearing all pockets of resistance in the country since the August takeover of power.

It also shed light on the fragility of security in the Capital and Gaddafi’s enormous potential to cause regime change or harm NTC leaders.

For weeks now, NTC forces, backed by NATO airpower, have flatly failed to capture Sirte, hometown to Gaddafi.

According to NTC, the bloody incident started after supporters of the overthrown leader, who had gathered for a pro-Gadhafi rally opened machine guns, attacking the provisional government’s forces.

Without Sirte, NTC cannot claim full liberation of the country.
