Kutesa, Nasasira, Rukutana Charged Over Shs14bn Chogm Deal

The trio faced charges of abusing office in the 14bn tender for renovation of Speke Resort, Munyonyo, Kampala ahead of Chogm in 2007.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges. They were released on condition that they pay shs40m cash and to deposit their passports at court. But they can apply for them when they intend to travel.

Each of the sureties was bonded Shs1bn. Kutesa was represented by Edwine Karugire, the first-son in law, Kiwanuka Kiryowa and Didas Nkurunziza.

His sureties included Patrick Bitature, a city tycoon; Sam Rwakoojo, Dr, Kayongo Mutumba, Geoffrey Mugazoora and Gordon Mwesigye.
