Reports filtering in from opposition corridors indicate that Western Youth MP Gerald Karuhanga was last night guarded by police escorts.

A senior journalist with a tabloid in Uganda, Arinaitwe Rugyendo described the youthful legislator’s presentation as a “star performance.”
Karuhanga said: “49 years ago our forefathers struggled, sacrificed their limbs and blood to save the country of colonialism. If I die today when I have said this, I know that history will record me marvellously. We all belong to a generation that must stand up and fight corruption. Let our children, our grandchildren and great grandchildren stand up and say all of us in 9th Parliament was a hero for having stood against corruption.”
Kabaziguruka said: “Karuhanga is being guarded tightly. He is our hero. We shall not rest until the oil crisis is resolved.”
