“It has been expressed clearly that in the last two weeks of the campaign process, a lot of money was splashed so as to bribe the voters; this is mainly why President Museveni was seen in the area to stamp bribery,” Mao said.
Mao added that in a situation where the Electoral Commission has also conceded that there has been a lot of malpractices and irregularities, it is very hard for anyone to believe the results read.
“There has been cases of ballot stuffing and some results are still withheld pending investigations of election irregularities.”
Mao remarked that the party is still waiting for a comprehensive report from members on the ground so as to take a final decision.
“I cannot specify now whether we are to file a case in court or not but we are still waiting for a report from the members on the ground so as to take a final stand.”
Mao added that the manner in which the by-elections were conducted in Bubulo is a clear indication that the country still needs the gospel of free and fair elections “which is the only way to redeem the country from the current regime”.
National Resistance Movement flag bearer, Rose Mutonyi, won the Bubulo West by-election with 29, 135 votes representing 83.5% of votes cast.
