He told the House that the motion to remove the Speaker was tabled in the assembly on 1st of this month but it has not been discussed.

The minister adds that since the assembly is independent, the President of Uganda was consulting the members of the summit with the view of finding the solution.

Last week, Parliament directed the minister to give the statement on the matter following concern by Kawempe North MP, Latif Ssebagala, that Uganda’s representatives in EALA were pushing for the censure of Zziwa without consulting them as their voters.

But the deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanya, said that Uganda’s MPs had no right over EALA members.

Uganda is represented by nine members, six from NRM, one independent and two from the opposition.
