Others include; the hospital, the beautiful tribe, the pygmies leaving on the slopes of Rwenzori, historical sites such as tombs for cultural leaders, the palace and the youngest King in the world, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguuru IV.
Stephen Kaliba, the Kingdom Prime Minister, disclosed that there are 20 hectares of land in Nyantungo Village, Nyantungo sub County, Kyenjojo District where the zoo can be erected.
This was revealed during an exclusive interview with our reporter at his offices in Mucwa Fort Portal town.
“The Kingdom will construct houses for wild animals, hotels, bars, lodges among other recreational facilities.”
“The development comes as Fort Portal town has been selected a tourism city as per Uganda 2040 vision. Tooro Kingdom will source the Shs 5bn from the government of Uganda through Ministry of Tourism and that of trade, attract the private developers and the foreign partners of the cultural institution.”
Kaliba said this would help students in secondary and higher institutions of learning carrying out research, the local tourists from travelling to Entebbe to see the animals.
He added it will enable the Kingdom generate some income which will later be injected in projects like agriculture, water and sanitation, health among others for the subjects to get better services.
The Premier also disclosed that the Kingdom is in its final stages of opening up a tourism website where the historical events, Mabereganyina Mwiru (stalagmites caves), tombs, shrines among others, will be posted to attract more tourists online.
Once completed, the project will accommodate over 500 tourists and employ about 1000 youth in Tooro.
