Addressing a press conference at the Media Centre, the Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr Johnson Byabashaija, said that the exercise is also aimed at creating jobs and reducing the high rate of youth unemployment in the country.

He reveals that the Uganda Prisons Services in conjunction with the Justice Law and order sector (JLOS) has been authorised carry out a nationwide recruitment of responsible Ugandan adults in three categories.

1 CADET Assistant Superintendent of prisons (CASP) -graduates-30

2 CADET Principal Officers (CPO)-Diploma -50

3 wardens and Wardresses O-level -920

For all the above categories, candidates are required to present three recent passport photos and identity cards of their previous institutions.

For the first two categories, they are required to present certified copies of their academic documents.

Byabashaija has appealed to all local leaders, RDCs Chief administrative officer and all stakeholders to mobilise all youth who have the required qualifications to come in big numbers for the exercise.

During the exercise, no youth will be charged any money because the exercise is completely free.

The commissioner General warned all those who will be caught charging the youth during recruitment that the law will work on them as required.
