UCU Lady Canons 108-42 Horseed Benadir

Just like KCCA Leopards earlier in the day, another Ugandan lady basketball Club UCU Lady Canons had a perfect start to their 2017 Zone V basketball campaign.

The Mukono-based side cruised to a 108-42 victory against Somalia’s Horseed Benadir in an entertaining affair played at the MTN Indoor Arena in lugogo.

Vilma Rachael Aceng had a walk in the park having led the stats with a double double of 25 points and 13 rebounds, with the captain only playing just 16 minutes.

Samuel Kakaire’s side will now face off with Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) on Monday, who are the reigning Zone V Champions in the ladies category.

Horseed Benadir with a lot of positives

Yes, they lost by a big margin of 66 points, but that scoreline may not portray what really happened on the court.

With approximately an average age of 16 years, Mudey Mulkir’s girls put up a strong entertaining display with silky moves, overwhelming dribbles and accurate shots from downtown.

Doning Jersey number 23, Fiin Jamad Husseam garnered 10 points but what she did with the ball was absolutely wonderful.

Yusuf Abdulahi, Ahmed Hodan and Hakimo Osman had strong performances which were welcomed with loud cheers and standing ovations.
