Patriots 73-77 City Oilers
In a game that had the lead exchange hands on 13 occasions, Defending Zone V Champions City Oilers managed to weather the storm against Rwanda’s Patriots.
At some early stage in the third quarter, Patriots held an eight-point lead of 53-45 but Mandy Juruni’s side managed to pull their socks up and geared up for the chase, to eventually clinch a 73-77 victory.
Three of the Oilers Players hit double figures; Mayez Jordan had another impressive display scoring 16 points while Robinson Opong and Adarius Pegues had 19 points apiece with the latter picking 10 rebounds.
The victory is the 3rd for City Oilers who have completed the Round robin format on top of Pool A with Patriots in second.
City Oilers’ Mayez Jordan: “I had to make my adjustments once again to see that we come on top of this, It was a tough challenge but I love the competition. We succeeded because we had did everything, the mix up, inside and outside presence.”
City Oilers’ Robinson Opong: “It was an amazing game out there. The opponents were very physical and it was tough for us to adjust but we managed to comeback and win.”
Patriots’ Kami Kabange: “I believe we lost the game we could have won. Its very emotional and not easy for me.”
“I cant predict who will be in the final, we are to play each game one by one.”
Patriots’ Coach: “We all knew that it was going to be a tough game so I had to adjust my defence a little bit. We tried to stop Stanley Ocitti but there were some mistakes from my players and others like Kami (Kami Kabange) was so down.”
What next for both Sides
Both sides will return to action on Thursday (Tomorrow) in their Quarter Final games; Patriots will play ABC at 3pm and City Oilers will face Gondar City at 7pm.
