Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Jamson Karemani has declined to release Juliet Nabunya who is charged with 110 counts relating to stealing from John Fred Kiyimba Freeman, symptoms a Buganda dignitary and Kikuubo businessman.
Last week, Nabuya through her lawyer Muhammad Matovu made an application before the trial magistrate seeking to be released on bail, presenting four sureties.
But the state prosecutor Emilly Ninsiima objected to this application on grounds that two of her sureties presented in court unclear identification documents and that the case involves large sums of money.
In his ruling, the magistrate concurred with state the case involves huge sums of money, making her a risk if freed on bail. He also noted that Nabunya failed to prove to court that she has affixed place of abode where she can be traced.
The defence counsel Muhamad Musoke had revealed that both sides entered negotiations aimed at recovering the money.
Chief Magistrate Jamson Karemani nonetheless remanded Nabunya back to Luzira until 19th May for hearing of the case.
