Yesterday Tuesday, order while appearing before the Chief Magistrates Court in Jinja, Mukulu, claimed he was being tortured.
He told court that he was forced to drink Waragi and fed on pork during his detention at Nalufenya Police Station.
Police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kawesi says these allegations are baseless and outrageous.
He said in a statement, “The Uganda Police Force would like to categorically clarify that none of these allegations are true.
“ For a start, Mukulu was legally detained at Nalufenya, a station with appropriate detention facilities that is supervised by professional senior police officers who have handled several suspects from different religious backgrounds, including Muslims, with ultimate respect.”
According to Kaweesi, It appears that Mukulu, a Muslim by faith, was using these baseless allegations to incite Muslims and to tarnish the image of the Uganda Police Force.
