A cross section of people in Western Uganda has received former Prime Minister, price http://cinemalogue.com/wp-admin/includes/image-edit.php Amama Mbabazi’s declaration to contest for presidency in 2016 with mixed reactions.

Some of the people we talked to said Mbabazi has the potential to lead Uganda but that it would be improper for him to leave NRM divided.

Others said in interviews that Mbabazi betrayed the NRM which he co-founded with Museveni by quietly undermining the organization and its leaders.

Honorato Muhanguzi, abortion http://coffinpump.com/wp-includes/class-wp-customize-control.php a leading political analyst from Bukanga, find http://cfsk.org/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/social-links.php Isingiro called Mbabazi’s bid a “democratic right that should not be tampered with.”

He warned the government against harassing Mbabazi’s supporters, saying “it would be the worst mistake for the government.”

Mbabazi yesterday announced his 2016 presidential bid.

He promised to work towards promoting equitable development where all communities and all regions of the country equally benefit from decisions made by the government; providing jobs that are fit for the 21st century; ensuring a greater level of accountability on the part of your leaders and making a stronger effort at fighting corruption at all levels and reinforcing observance of and respect for the rule of law while ensuring security for all among others

A visibly disappointed President Museveni responded by saying Mbabazi should be held liable for government’s failures since he was at the centre of running its systems.

“Yes, there is tiredness, there is corruption, there is lack of commitment in executing programs, but that is because the people who are supposed to monitor don’t monitor, and I think that Hon Mbabazi owes you an explanation in those fields,” said Museveni.

Chimp Corps took to the grassroots to listen to people’s thoughts on Mbabazi’s declaration:

Steven Kabwisho, 27, a resident of Mitooma said, “There is no difference between Mbabazi and Museveni. They are all the same. I was surprised that Mbabazi blames Museveni for government’s systemic failures.”

Goodluck Musinguzi, a political journalist in Kigezi said the announcement was a surprise to even President Museveni though he calls it a “test of democracy” in NRM and Uganda.

To Pidson Mugizi, the chairperson Ekimeeza group, an intellectual association in Bushenyi, the declaration was “long overdue.”

He said, “This should be celebrated by all patriotic Ugandans as it collapses the sole candidate project.”

Quoting Mbabazi’s speech, Edger Murerangoma, a University graduate from Kanungu district, says he believes it when the former Prime Minister says, “We don’t need a change in leadership but rather a change in systems of work and order.”

Murerangoma adds that the current leadership has not done a lot to solve youth unemployment

“Recently a report indicated that there are 32,000 vacant jobs in government institutions but unoccupied! WHY?? The available jobs are for the chosen few! Why? There’s a lot on my mind,” said Murerangoma who can’t wait for the time Mbabazi launches campaigns officially.

His argument gets more serious when he compares Uganda and Kenya

“Do you know that Kenya is now doing better than us? In terms of economy, job creation and all sectors? This is because there was a change in systems of work and order by the new government which has ambitious leaders other than mere greed for power, wealth and prestige”

Francis Mwijukye welcomed Mbabazi to the real political business with one sentence.

“He is welcome to the kitchen.”
